Test of English as a Foreign Language(TOEFL) Passing Score for the CGFNS Certification Program

PHILADELPHIA, PA — JANUARY 1, 1999 — There are three components of the CGFNS Certification Program; a Credentials review, a one day test of nursing knowledge and the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). You must pass all three parts of the Certification Program in order to earn the CGFNS Certificate.

You must pass the CGFNS Qualifying Examination and TOEFL within a two year time period. TOEFL may be taken prior to or following the CGFNS Qualifying Examination. The TOEFL passing scores for the CGFNS Certification Program as of July 1998 are:

Test : TOEFL
Passing Score (Computer) : 207
Passing Score (Written) : 540

You must apply directly to ETS to take the TOEFL examination. ETS will forward your TOEFL results to CGFNS upon your request. When filling out the ETS application, use the following code number when identifying score recipients: 9988. This number is extremely important since it identifies you specifically as a CGFNS candidate and insures that your ETS results will be forwarded for inclusion in your CGFNS file.

For information about taking the TOEFL examination, visit their Web site at http://www.toefl.org or contact: TOEFL/TSE Publications, Test of English as a Foreign Language, P.O. Box 6151, Princeton, NJ 08541-6151 or call (609) 771-7100.
