Diagnostic profile to be included with CGFNS exam results

JANUARY 1, 1998

Beginning with the July 1998 examination, CGFNS will be providing both score and test data to all applicants, including those who pass the CGFNS Examination and those who fail. The information that will be contained in the results letter will be the CGFNS passing score for the Examination, the applicant score, and a profile of how well the applicant performed in each Client Needs category.

The four client needs categories are: a) safe, effective care environment, b) health promotion and maintenance, c) psychosocial integrity and d) physiological integrity.

CGFNS will also provide a description of the content in each category. Since providing this entails considerable work by the Commission and its test vendor, the fee for the CGFNS Examination will remain at $185 despite the elimination of the English portion. However, CGFNS believes that the information that will now be included with results letters will be of benefit to all applicants as the prepare for the NCLEX-RN® (National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses) in the United States.

CGFNS is an immigration-neutral, nonprofit organization based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, and is an internationally recognized authority on the education, registration and licensure of nurses worldwide. CGFNS’s mission is to provide responsible leadership in the delivery of relevant services to the global nursing and health care community. The organization was founded in 1977 through a collaborative effort by representatives from the U.S. Department of Labor; Department of Health, Education and Welfare (now the Department of Health and Human Services); the Immigration and Naturalization Service; and representatives from nursing organizations, including the American Nurses Association and the National League for Nursing.
