JANUARY 22, 2001 New members and officer elected to the Commission on Graduates A new member and three former members were recently reappointed, and an officer elected, to the Board of Trustees of the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Current board member, Alice Baumgart, PhD, RN, was elected to a two-year term as Secretary of the Board. Other board officers: Ellen Sanders, MS, RN, President, and Phyllis Kritek, PhD, RN, FAAN, Vice President, were re-appointed to four-year terms, and along with C. Alicia Georges, MA, RN, FAAN, Treasurer, will continue in office. CGFNS also welcomes new member, Marcia Rachel, PhD, RN, Executive Director of the Mississippi State Board of Nursing, who was elected to a four-year term as a trustee-at-large. In addition to Dr. Rachel, current member, Roger Boothroyd, PhD, Department of Mental Health, Law and Policy at the Florida Mental Health Institute, University of South Florida, was re-elected to another four-year term as a trustee-at-large. All positions became effective January 1, 2001. CGFNS bids farewell to board member Julia Gould, MS, RN, Nursing Education Consultant for the Georgia State Board of Nursing, whose term expired on December 31, 2000. Gould, who served as a trustee-at-large, has made significant contributions in helping CGFNS fulfill its mission. CGFNS is an immigration-neutral, nonprofit organization based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, and is an internationally recognized authority on the education, registration and licensure of nurses worldwide. CGFNS’s mission is to provide responsible leadership in the delivery of relevant services to the global nursing and health care community.
