AUGUST 1, 2002 CGFNS publishes monograph Characteristics of Foreign Nurse Graduates The Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) is pleased to announce the publication of a landmark monograph, Characteristics of Foreign Nurse Graduates in the United States Workforce, 2000-2001. The monograph is an authoritative collection of fundamental data about foreign-educated nurses who took the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN? examination), between 1997-1999. The monograph, published from data collected in CGFNS’s first, broad foreign nurse graduate survey, focuses on identifying the roles filled by internationally educated nurses and their relationship to the US-registered nurse workforce. The results of the foreign nurse graduate survey, which interviewed over 700 nurses, provide demographic data covering education, licensure, immigration, employment patterns, challenges related to language and culture, and job satisfaction. "This monograph presents the most comprehensive data ever surveyed and compiled about foreign-educated nurses in the United States workforce.
