CGFNS opens exam center in Abuja, Nigeria, for September and November exams

The Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) is pleased to announce that it is opening an exam center in Abuja, Nigeria, to conduct the CGFNS Qualifying ExamSM. The exam center will be open for the 21 September and 9 November 2005, exams. The deadline for applying for the November 2005 exam in Abuja is 5 October 2005.

CGFNS administers its exam four times each year for nurses educated outside the United States who wish to practice nursing in the United States. The exams are offered at over 55 locations worldwide in March, July, September and November. The September exam will be administered for the first time in Abuja, Nigeria. Other international locations for the September exam include: Copenhagen, Denmark; Cochin, India; and Cebu City, Philippines. The September exam will also be administered in the United States at the following locations: Chicago, IL; Houston, TX; Miami, FL; and New York, NY.

The CGFNS Qualifying ExamSM is designed for first-level, general nurses educated outside the United States, who wish to become licensed in the United States. Forty U.S. states require that foreign-educated nurses pass the CGFNS Qualifying ExamSM before they will be authorized to sit for the NCLEX-RN® examination, (the U.S. national licensure exam for registered nurses).
