New members and officers elected to the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS International) Board of Trustees

New officers and new members were recently elected to the Board of Trustees of the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS International) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the United States.

CGFNS’s newly elected Board of Trustees officers are: President, Marcia M. Rachel, PhD, RN, Assistant Dean for Health Systems and Quality Improvement, UMMC School of Nursing, Jackson, Mississippi; Vice President, Nilda Peragallo, DrPH, RN, FAAN, Professor and Dean, School of Nursing & Health Studies, University of Miami. Continuing officers are Secretary, Robert Watkins, MA, Assistant Director of Admissions, University of Texas at Austin and Treasurer Mi Ja Kim, PhD, RN, FAAN, Professor and Dean Emerita, University of Illinois at Chicago College of Nursing.

CGFNS also welcomes new Board Members Carol Bradley, MSN, RN, Regional Chief Nursing Officer, Tenet, California; Janet Hatcher Roberts, BA, MSC, Executive Director, Canadian Society for International Health, and International Observer, Amelia Maglacas, DrPH, RN, FRCN. All positions became effective 1 January 2008.

CGFNS bids farewell to two Board Members: Mary Lou Bond, PhD, RN, FAAN, Samuel T. Hughes Professor in Nursing, and Director, Center for Hispanic Studies in Nursing and Health, The University of Texas at Arlington, School of Nursing, and Lucille A. Joel, EdD, RN, FAAN, Professor, Rutgers University College of Nursing.
