2009 News and Alerts September 2, 2009 CGFNS International names China Health Human Resources Management Center as its country representative for the People’s Republic of China Philadelphia, PA, USA — CGFNS International has named China Health Human Resources Management Center, headquartered in Beijing in the People’s Republic of China, as its country representative. China Health Human Resources management Center will disseminate information supporting Chinese nurses planning to take the November 2009 CGFNS Qualifying Exam® as part of the HHRDC-CGFNS International Standards for Professional Nurses (ISPN) program in the People’s Republic of China. Liao Hitao, China Health Human Resources Management Center President, said, “China Health Human Resources Management Center is thrilled to support the launch of the HHRDC-CGFNS ISPN program and will provide information in the People’s Republic of China about the program through a Web site and other materials.” Barbara L. Nichols, CGFNS International CEO, said, “this cooperative agreement with China Health Human Resources Management Center will assist Chinese nurses who wish to demonstrate their nursing knowledge by taking the CGFNS Qualifying Exam® under the new ISPN program in the People’s Republic of China.” The ISPN program was developed through a joint effort between The HHRDC in the People’s Republic of China and CGFNS International in the United States. It includes administration of the CGFNS Qualifying Exam® for first-level, general nurses residing in the People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong and Macao, as a way to strengthen nursing education and practice in China. The program consists of two components: an initial status verification of first-level, general nurses followed by an examination to assess nursing knowledge. This exam has been administered worldwide since 1977 to foreign-educated nurses who wish to practice in the United States and satisfies the examination component of both the CGFNS Certification Program and VisaScreen®. Applicants who successfully pass this exam under the ISPN Program will not be required to retake the exam when pursuing other CGFNS programs.
