About the VisaScreen® program
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) requires, under section 343 of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996, internationally educated health care professionals, such as:
- Registered Nurses
- Physical Therapists
- Occupational Therapists
- Physician Assistants
- Clinical Laboratory Technicians (Medical Technicians)
- Clinical Laboratory Scientists (Medical Laboratory Technologists)
- Speech Language Pathologists
- Speech Language Audiologists
- Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurses
seeking temporary or permanent occupational visas as well as those who are seeking Trade NAFTA (TN) status, to first obtain a
CGFNS/ICHP VisaScreen® Certificate as part of the visa process. VisaScreen® is administered by the International Commission on Healthcare Professions (ICHP) a division of CGFNS International.

| 1Applicants will be given 12 months to meet the requirements of the program before the order is expired. Once an order that has been paid in full is expired, an applicant has up to one year (12 months) to apply to reprocess an expired order and pay the reprocess fee associated with this service. An applicant with an expired order that has not been paid in full must submit a new order with the full fee to continue the service. Reprocess orders will remain open for another 12 months starting from the date the reprocess order is placed. A reprocess order can only be placed for an expired order with full payment. |
